Central Sonoma County Real Estate and Information

Central Sonoma County consists of  Windsor, Santa Rosa, and Oakmont. Santa Rosa is where the county administrative offices are located along with the annual Rose Parade and Luther Burbank Gardens. Oakmont is a retirement community east of Santa Rosa. Windsor is noted for their annual Balloon Festival.

SONOMA COUNTY APPELLATIONS

An appellation is a name of a region in which grapes for production are grown. Historically, the world's first vineyard classification system was introduced by the Hungarians in Tokaj-Hegyalja, Hungary in 1730. The world's second oldest appellation control was introduced in Portugal in 1756. The first Sonoma County Appellation was formed in 1982 and it was called the Sonoma Valley Appellation. Currently, there are 12 appellations in Sonoma County.
