"We believe that it were not for Gary's patience with us
and his diligence in moving the proper permits and papers
through the county labernyth, we undoubtedly would still
be in possession of a piece of property with which we have
no use. Gary has our gratitude and unconditional recommendation.
You should be proud to have a person of Gary's caliber
working for you organization."

A Brief History of Penngrove
Penngrove is a small unincorporated community located between
Petaluma and Cotati. It is nestled in the foothils of Sonoma Mountain
Penngrove may have been named because of a supposedly historic grove
consisting of Olive or Oak trees and was called Penn's Grove. Previously,
it was a rail freight station for the Northwestern Pacific Railroad and
an area that was involved in chicken farming.
The area was originally settled by the Coastal Miwok Indians and later
by the Mexican Government. The land (Rancho Cotate Land Grant) was passed
on to Captain Juan Castenda in 1844 for his military service. Ultimately,
parcels of land were sold to the settlers migrating to California. The
Rancho Cotate Grant consisted of what we know today as Penngrove, Petaluma
and Rohnert Park.
Penngrove celebrates its annual 4th of July parade which is organized
by the Rancho-Adobe Fire Station.
Penngrove is located approximately 45 miles north of San Francisco
and 10 miles south of Santa Rosa. Location of other cities and communities
can be found on the Map of Sonoma
County.
