"We wish to express our appreciation and thanks to you for
your excellent handling of the sale of our property. As we
all found out, there were numerous difficult and unexpected
hurdles to overcome. We want you to know that we are aware
of the fact that without your persistence, professional know-how
and darn hard work, the sale of our property would likely
not have been completed."

A Brief History of Forestville
The town of Forestville was
founded in 1869 and named after saloonkeeper A.J. Forrister
who owned 100 acres. Originally, Forestville was spelled with
two R's.
Forestville was first known for its chair factory, and then
for the electric train (Petaluma and Santa Rosa Railroad) that
extended the tracks from Sebastopol to Forestville. Major Isaac
Sullivan produced the first chairs, made of split oak and deer
hide seats, and Samuel Faudre established a chair factory in
Forestville in the 1860's. The train expanded possibilities
for passenger travel and the transport of goods such as apples
to the Sebastopol Canneries. Forestville soon became a popular
train stop for loggers and vacationers. However, passenger
service halted in the 1930s after the railroad was purchased
by Northwestern Pacific.
Today, Forestville maintains its rural atmosphere. There are
no motels in Forestville, but otherwise a diverse business
climate from small mom-and-pop stores to world-renowned winegrowers.
A cross-section of the community includes entrepreneurs, craftspeople,
writers, artists and educators.
Forestville is located in the Wine Country approximately 70
miles north of San Francisco and can be accessed on Highway
116 continuing north from Sebastopol. Continuing along Highway
116 will lead to Guerneville. Location of other cities and
communities can be found on the Map of
Sonoma County.
